Will AI take over?
And will I have to fight my laptop?
Alright, so I’ve been diving into ai, trying to figure out what it actually is. I don’t think its going to take over in the way most people think it will. Its not going to be like the latest mission impossible movie where the ai launches nukes at every country and to wipe out humans.
Here is where we are right now - all the LLM’s (large language models) we have right now is generative AI, meaning that its basically a better google. It reads whats on the internet, reasons a little but and connects dots, and puts it together to create an essay or report for you. It cant think, its basically a yes man, and if you don’t have understanding of what it is it can gently and slowly lead you down the wrong path. You STILL have to think and use reasoning. Our brains are still far more superior than chatgpt.
I’ve been looking into Agentic Ai recently, and if you haven’t heard about this thats ok, its brand new, just like AI. Agentic AI has the capability to mirror human activity online. Meaning it can be programed to reason, run programs, outreach, do tasks, coordinate, etc basically every online task. Its incredibly powerful and could theoretically run whole businesses from just a few agentic AI agents. However, we are a few years away from that model.
What does it mean today? Basically, keep thinking. Know and understand what AI today is, but dont let it think for you. If you have an idea, let AI be the extension of that idea. Learn how to be specific when prompting, because that will change the outputs you get. I’d encourage everyone to go on youtube and learn how to prompt better.
What does this mean for the next generation? I legitimately am scared for this next generation. There is a possibility that AI could do a majority of the thinking for them, and create even more of a hive mind than there already is. But on the flip side, if gen alpha or gen beta learn how to think and know how to prompt AI, they could turn into the most productive generations ever. Things would get done at breakneck speed, and businesses could be built in days instead of months.
Something I dont think is talked about enough is what AI what its learning off of. Its taking the entirety of the internet, publications, social media posts, etc and gauging off of credibility and scoring it to come up with the best outputs for you. Since the internet has been dominated by the left wing woke mind virus, of course AI is going to be woke. more than half the internet is woke, and the other half is porn.
But knowing that, wouldn’t you think that publishing more content that is center or more right would sway the results? Yes, but at scale. There has to be warriors online constantly publishing the truth or counter narratives to the mainstream one in order to get full representation. I don’t think its a good idea to let AI learn off of what CNN and NBC is publishing.
I think the biggest threat that AI brings is AI video’s of public figures saying something they didn’t actually say. These videos go viral almost automatically, and could legitimately start wars. It already had ruined careers, reputations, and lives. It goes back to my idea of the erosion of trust online. Pretty soon, there wont be actual truth promoted online, just what can go viral.
This might be a bleak outlook, because it is. We don’t really know what this could look like, but we have an idea because of the dot com craze, the advent of social media, and now this, We can take lessons from those, but because this is a totally different level and they could be legitimately making AI conscious, I think we can safely say we have no idea what we are dealing with or building. Thankfully I think this is still 5-10 years away. Who knows maybe Jesus will come back before then and save us from the skynet doomsday Hollywood has been preparing us for.
