Here's what this newsletter will be about - Whats going on in the news, and how it affects you and me.
There are a lot of thoughts that goes on unsaid or expressed, mostly because social media has an attention span of a goldfish. I feel like writing is about to be a lost art, especially with the rise in generative ai. No one is thinking for themselves anymore, we are all addicted to knowing what the algorithm wants to tell us. To be blunt, that also is my experience. I am in a constant battle with the algorithm, not because of shadow bans but because I have to constantly ask myself “Is this true?”
That question will be asked more and more and the erosion of trust will get to a point where nothing online is actually true anymore. Everything will be spun, twisted into a narrative that will push an agenda, whether that agenda be good or bad. There is so much fluff in the news media today. So many “breaking news” stories that just dont matter. But the cycle we are in has gotten beyond the 24 hour news cycle, if thats even possible.
Here’s a practical example of the only thing thats important in the news today, the Big Beautiful Bill and the Judges blocking trump from deporting illegals. None of the other items, like investigating the cocaine that was found in the white house, or pardons, or any of the other news stories are relevant to you and your life.
Why?
Lets get down to it, the Big Beautiful Bill has a lot of the items that Trump wants, no tax on tips, overtime, social security etc. But it also adds spending, takes away tax credits, and the establishment republicans and democrats are winning this battle.
They aren’t adding in the doge cut recommendations at all. Thats why Senator Ron Johnson is going on a media blitz to sway public opinion that the bill needs to include massive spending cuts. He says the government has a massive spending problem (Duh) but not a revenue problem, and thinks we take in more than enough tax dollars to cover basic government functions. His appearance on the All In podcast is a must listen.
I don’t think this bill will pass the senate unless they add in these doge cuts, there is enough sane senators that love America that will block this bill.
The other question people are asking is “Why aren’t these cuts permanent?” Typically with reconciliation packages it only last for a certain amount of years, in this case until 2029. But your congressmen have the ability to introduce bills that make these cuts last, and you should email and call them to make that happen.
On a totally different note I am in the process of developing an app that can help the grassroots lobbying process. Its called Civic Pulse, and I think it’ll make waves. Basically the idea is to show people what bills are introduced, being voted on, etc on the floor of congress. It’ll use ai to explain the bills in plain english, and what it actually means for people, IE how much it raises taxes, new regulations etc.
It’ll also score politicians, show trading history, lobbying money etc.
All this data is public but its never been organized and put into one place. I want this to be an app that Congress fears. I want to enable people to send millions of emails to their inbox to lobby for bills to be voted on or against. I think it’ll be a game changer.
Outside of politics, I am searching for blue collar businesses to buy in charlotte. I think the opportunity is massive. its one of the only industries that cant be replaced by ai, and robotics are a long way away from replacing skilled labor like this. I am hopeful Ill find a deal in the next 6 months and be able to start building in the local Charlotte market.
Personally, I am getting married this week! To the most lovely person in the world. Jessica and I have known about each other since 2020, just like me she blew up on Tiktok taking about politics and conspiracies. Late last year we started talking and we hit it off immediately. I am so in love and am excited to be the best husband I can be to her.
Until next time,
